Tungsten Heavy Alloy Shields is an ideal material for shielding elements or containers of various radioactive sources due to its strong ability to attenuate x-rays. In addition, tungsten is high density and environmentally friendly.
Tungsten is commonly used in the production of tungsten radiation protection tanks for industrial and medical use.
Tungsten Heavy Alloy Shields are made from a tungsten matrix (usually 80% to 98% tungsten) with small amounts of nickel, iron, copper, cobalt, molybdenum, chromium and other elements. The density of super-gravity tungsten alloy can reach 15.20~18.70g/cm3, also known as super-gravity tungsten alloy or high-density alloy material. Because tungsten alloy weighs more than twice as much as steel.
Tungsten alloy has a series of excellent properties, high specific gravity: general specific gravity 16.5-18.75g/cm3, high strength: tensile strength 700-1000mpa, strong light absorption capacity: 30-40% higher than general lead ratio, high thermal conductivity: mold It is 5 times that of steel; low thermal expansion coefficient: only 1/2-1/3 of steel, good electrical conductivity, good welding and cutting performance.
A common method for preparing heavy tungsten alloys is to mix the required amount of tungsten, iron, nickel or copper powder, then cold-press and liquid-phase sintering to near full density. In the liquid phase treatment, the base tungsten alloy melts, part of the tungsten enters the solution to form a microstructure, and a large number of tungsten particles (20-60 m) are dispersed in the base alloy.
